Dealership decals work well for advertising but aren't the most practical accessory for your car. They're also difficult and time-consuming to remove. Here's how you can remove the dealership decal from your car.

Prep Work

Before you remove the sticker from the car, clean the surrounding area. This will protect your paint from dirt and other debris that may be around the sticker. This can be cleaned with water and warm soap.

The Decal can be removed

To remove a decal cleanly from your vehicle, you must make sure that it is removed under the correct conditions. Any heat can help to soften the glue and make it more difficult to remove. Depending upon how hard the sticker is to take off, you may have to wait until a warm sunny day. If the sticker remains stuck on warm days, you can heat it up with a hair dryer to melt the adhesive.

After the glue has dried, you will be able to peel off the decal. Slowly and carefully will ensure the best results. If you have difficulty peeling the sticker with your fingers you can use a piece of floss, a credit-card or a plastic spatula. Sometimes, small pieces of decals may need to be removed slowly, especially if it's been laser cut.

Spraying adhesive around decals that are extremely resilient but won't melt with heat or using tools can be helpful. This allows you to spray adhesive remover around the sticker, allowing it to penetrate underneath and loosen the glue.

Cleanup

This is just one of many important steps in the removal process. After the decal has been removed, it's also important to properly clean the area. The remaining adhesive can attract dirt, which can lead to scratches on your paint. To avoid this, you need to use something that can remove adhesive. There are products designed specifically to remove adhesive left behind from these types, including Goo Gone and 3M Adhesive Remover. If you don’t have any of those, you can also use WD40. However, it is best to use a proven adhesive remover.

Dealership decals can be tricky to remove but you can do it with some effort. If you follow these steps, your decal will be removed in no matter how fast.
